Himfr.com Discusses Environmental Paint Development Trend

July 8, 2009

BEIJING, July 8 /PRNewswire-Asia/ — Himfr.com (http://www.himfr.com/ ),
one of China’s leading B2B search platforms with more than 30 B2B industry
websites to its name, discusses the development of environmental protection
paint (http://www.himfr.com/buy-environmental_protection_paint/ ).

With rising concerns over health and environmental protection, market
demand for environmental paint is on the increase. The so-called “green paint”
refers to energy saving, low conservative materials such as water-based paint,
powder paint, high solid content paint (or solvent-free paint), and radiation
curable paint and so on. Certain kinds of paint are picking up to become the
preferable coasting material for a variety of products, as listed below.

Solid solvent-borne paint. High-solids solvent is in order to meet the
increasingly stringent environmental protection requirements. It can be
applied to the original production methods, under the premise of coating
technology to reduce the amount of organic solvent, thereby enhancing solid
components. Low-solids solvent-paint usually has a solid content of 30%-50%,
while high-solids solvent-(HSSC) require a solid content of 65%-85%, to meet
with the increasingly stringent VOC restrictions.

Water-based paint. The vast majority of water is different from the
characteristics of organic solvents in its non-toxic odorless and
non-flammable form. With water introduced to the paint, construction costs can
be reduced which also greatly reduced the VOC. Hence the development of
water-based paint has enjoyed significant progress since the beginning. China
Environmental Labeling Certification Commission promulgated the “water-based
paint technical requirements for environmental label products”, which
regulates that: product content of volatile organic compounds should be less
than 250g/L; no man-made chemical compounds containing heavy metals should be
added in the product manufacturing process; total content of heavy metals
should be less than 500mg/kg (in terms of lead); formaldehyde or man-made
polymers added in production process should be less than 500mg/kg. In fact,
the use of water-based paint accounted for about half of all paint. There are
three types of water-based paints: water-soluble, water dispersible and latex.

Dust paint. Paint dust is a more advanced paint. Paint dust theory is
absolute zero VOC paint, and with their unique advantages, in the future, dust
coating paint may become one of the most important development directions. But
its limitations in the application require extensive and in-depth study, such
as its manufacturing process is relatively complex, high manufacturing cost,
and as dust coating require a baking temperature that is much higher than
ordinary paints, it is difficult to get a thin coating. Further improvements
are to be made, but it is one of the future direction of development.

Liquid solvent-free paint. There are two types of organic solvent-free
liquid paint, such as the energy beam curing type. Liquid solvent-free paint
is the latest development trends in the development of single-fluid type,
which is available for general painting.

The trend in paint research and development is becoming clearer, that it
is constantly seeking to reduce VOC until the paint content is zero, while
extending it’s application and boosting performance and so on.

Water-based paint (http://www.himfr.com/buy-water_based_paint/ ), powder
paint, and other solvent-free paint
(http://www.himfr.com/buy-solvent_free_paint/ ) are currently the focus of
future development.
