WASHINGTON, July 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Black Chamber of Commerce hosts its 17th Annual Convention in Washington, DC, on July 22-24. This conference, "Change has Come" will discuss the following topics:

Business Development through the SBA: Things have changed via bundling, court cases, GAO recommendations and emerging industries. There is no Small Disadvantaged Business program anymore. Where do we go? HUB Zones are a priority followed by the 8a program and Mentor/Protege. Do you know what a PTAC is? You had better! It's time we understand the strategy and get on the "Developmental Train." Hear from SBA officials themselves and the Honorable Karen Mills, Administrator of the Small Business Administration.

How Many Millions of Dollars does Your Community Lose: Your bus company, subway, airport, local highway and interstates are filled with contracts, concessions and jobs. Is your community getting its fair share? More than likely not, so learn how to identify these monies and opportunities and bring them to your community.

Protecting our Environment while Making Money, Too: We need to know our Environmental Protection Agency a lot better. There are significant programs for job training, project management and business development in this vital area. Come to our 17th Annual Convention and hear the words of the Honorable Lisa Jackson, Administrator, Environmental Protection Agency.

Energy, Green Jobs, And Renewable Sources: The U.S. Department of Energy is assigned with deploying the billions of dollars in programs and training for President Obama's energy vision. Come and learn what these programs are. Weatherization, training grants, business incubation, Green Jobs and renewable energy are but a few of the ingredients in this new frontier. Hear about it from the U.S. Department of Energy itself.

$7.2 Billion in Broadband Deployment Grants: Broadband grants are now available: The first wave of grant money ($7.2 Billion) for broadband deployment is set to go! Applications will be received between July 14 and August 14.

Is Your City Compliant with Section 3 of the HUD Act: If all HUD grantees would comply with Section 3, there would be 500,000 additional jobs in African-American communities. Let us make this happen.

Everyone is welcome to register and attend, go to www.nationalbcc.org to learn more.
