Air Force Unveils ECC-Constructed, 'Green' Fitness Center at Vandenberg AFB

Manjiv S. Vohra, PE, ECC's President and CEO attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. He comments, "Health and wellness of the uniformed and civilian members of the military are key, and it is a great privilege for us to be able to provide the Air Force with a state-of-the-art facility in which to train."
The 51,000-square-foot fitness center includes three NCAA-sized basketball courts, three volleyball courts, two massage rooms, four saunas, a juice bar, shower and locker facilities, administration offices, and a 9,000-square-foot cardio and free weight area.
ECC's Project Manager,
LEED, or the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council as a nationally accepted benchmark for the design-build and operation of sustainable buildings. The ECC Team used the LEED Green Building Rating System(TM) as guidance to ensure a sustainable, innovative, and high-quality product for the Air Force.
Under the direction of the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment (AFCEE), the project's contracting agency, the ECC Team worked closely throughout the design-build phase with base personnel. Led by ECC, RMA Land Construction, Inc. served as General Contractor and
Headquartered at Brooks City-Base, TX, AFCEE protects, preserves, restores, develops, and sustains our nation's environmental and installation resources.
