Home Service Signs Marketing Agreement with SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company

MIAMI, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Home Service, a leading provider of home repair programs with over half a million service contracts in place, announces a ten year agreement with SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company. The deal, which was officially announced on July 1, 2009, gives Home Service access to market to 260,000 residential households throughout the state of Michigan.

"We are glad to announce this agreement with Home Service to provide our customers with repair protection plans," says Jim Larsen, SEMCO ENERGY Vice President of Michigan operations. "The selection of Home Service was based on their proven success along with the commitment to deliver a smooth transition in a tight timeframe."

Although Home Service currently has such agreements with over a dozen utility companies nationwide, this will be their first in Michigan. "We are always looking for new opportunities and exceptional companies to share our products with," says Jonathan King, Home Service CEO. "We are very optimistic about growing our business with SEMCO ENERGY."

Through terms of the agreement, Home Service will immediately gain 21,500 new contracts from the acquisition of the SHARPSERVICE Protection Plan. The transfer of these contracts will allow current members to continue their furnace, water heater and central air plans.

In addition to the SHARPSERVICE program, Home Service will begin offering interior gas and heating coverage, via direct mail, starting this fall. For a low monthly fee, those who enroll in the program will have access to a 24 hour emergency hotline that will dispatch a qualified Home Service technician to make any necessary repairs at the home. "Emergencies do happen and unfortunately, there's very little someone can do to prepare for them," says King. "Rather than have to scramble and pay thousands of dollars in the midst of a home emergency, Home Service takes care of the legwork from start to finish."
