Pioneers in Solar Tracking Technology: Innovations in ADES Solar Trackers

SAN FRANCISCO, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- ADES, a research and design engineering company with more than 150 MW of solar trackers installed since 2004 and activity in Spain, Italy, Greece and Canada, presents its innovations of ADES products and services to the North American market.

Our new dual axis solar tracker design has been specially adapted to new markets with more efficient shipping, better land use (1 MW on 3.5 ha / 8.6 acres), a patented traction system "traction clamp", and an improved elliptical shape and lowered height to decrease shadowing.

BATTERY SYSTEM: AUTONOMY OF THE TRACKER VS. DISTURBANCES OF THE ELECTRICAL GRID

Thanks to our experience in the field, we have detected the need to isolate solar trackers from the grid. This solution guarantees the protection from disturbances of the electrical grid (voltage drops, peaks etc.) that can destabilize tracker functions.

In the new ADES solar tracker design, a battery system provides all the voltage and current necessary for all tracker movements, eliminating electrical failure of the tracker due to external factors.

This system reduces the required electrical devices facing the AC systems, simplifying operations and maintenance steps, which implies a reduction of economic costs and the risk of electrical failure due to external factors.

The system is designed to allow the trackers two days autonomy, providing independence of the grid, isolating possible disturbances (voltage drops, peaks etc.) and providing higher security of the installation to keep the trackers on alert even in case of network failure (storms, winds, severe weather conditions, etc.).

You can also find the shadow SOLARFARM program for free download. The SOLARFARM program was created to facilitate the task of engineering design for customers and installers who want to implant ADES solar trackers into their projects.

SOLARFARM provides a graphic 3D space that allows the analysis and optimization of photovoltaic parks designed with ADES Solar Trackers. The optimization process helps to obtain higher production facing lower occupancy of the land.

The application allows the user to load the actual topographic information of the project site so accuracy is very high.

The program combines a simulated time model to spot shadows thrown by the ADES Solar Trackers and potential buildings or obstacles existing in the installation, calculating all possible interference of the sunbeams by the different elements.

These interferences are treated in a very visual way, since through a series of colours and geometric shapes SOLARFARM marks exactly where design challenges exist.

SOLARFARM allows users to study daily shadow behaviour for each individual tracker at any time of the year. With this information you can predict with extreme detail which trackers will generate higher production, and explore possible solutions for the trackers that may suffer more shadowing.

SOLARFARM incorporates a number of applications that allow the viewer to rotate the images 360 degrees in order to display every detail of the study process.
