ATLANTA, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- New World Home, a rapidly growing designer and builder of sustainable housing, recently hosted a grand opening tour of Georgia's first LEED((R) )Platinum certified, factory-built home, at 1452 Murdock Road in Marietta.
New World Home earned the LEED for Homes Platinum certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for outstanding achievement in green homebuilding, representing the first factory-built home in the state of Georgia to earn this designation. In addition, the New World Home project is the first home of any type in Georgia to earn the prestigious Platinum rating without the need for any renewable energy sources, such as solar panels, wind turbines or geothermal systems.
Also at the Marietta event, representatives from Southface Energy Institute and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association presented New World Home with its LEED Platinum, EarthCraft Gold, and National Home Builders Association Gold certifications.
"New World Home's accomplishment shows the tremendous potential factory-built homes offer for excellent performance in energy and water efficiency," said Lataunynia Campbell, LEED for Homes Manager of Southface Energy Institute. "The very significant cost savings to be realized over the lifetime of a home like this merits serious consideration by future homeowners. Plus, the home's comforts and conveniences are first rate," Campbell adds.
"New World Home is really looking to the future of home building-a home that meets or exceeds the highest green standards in the industry and also looks terrific," said David Ellis, Executive Vice President of the Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Association. "We congratulate everyone at New World Home on their important achievement and anticipate that we will be witnessing many more of their successes in the coming years."
The event, which drew an impressive crowd, included a presentation on environmental housing, a review of the home's sustainability features, discussion of other New World Home initiatives and innovations, an educational tour of the house and a reception.
"Our goal is to craft homes that create a lasting green legacy, and our LEED Platinum certification proves that it is possible to develop homes that achieve this goal and are aesthetically appealing," says Michael A. Natbony, the company's Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward to expanding our presence in Georgia and continuing to educate home buyers and others about the incredible, environmentally-friendly opportunities that are available through quality factory-built housing."
