Mechtronix to Provide BUS Access Modules and VME Cards Enabling Upgrade of Frigate Battle Damage Control Systems

MONTREAL, July 21 /PRNewswire/ - Mechtronix Systems announced that it has signed a five year contract with L-3 MAPPS to design two BUS Access Modules and VME Cards needed to upgrade the Battle Damage Control Systems (BDCS) for the Canadian Navy's fleet of twelve Halifax Class frigates. The Mechtronix engineered technology will provide L-3 MAPPS, the leading premier supplier of ship control systems to the Canadian Navy, with solutions to support the officers and decision-makers in carrying out their duties. This will help the damage control team on the ships to better manage emergency situations ranging from fire, flood and smoke to radiation and chemical hazard protection.

"We are pleased to announce the selection of Mechtronix as a key integrator in our development of the frigate BDCS network and look forward to work with its professional engineering team to build the upgrade for the Navy," said Peter Dawson, president of L-3 MAPPS.

"We are very pleased that L-3 has again recognized Mechtronix exceptional engineering proficiency and selected the company as a key player in the design of supportive technology for the BDCS network," said Mechtronix president Xavier Herve. "While we have risen to prominence based on our performance and growing global share of the flight simulator market, Mechtronix continues to help the world build intelligent machines in other industries. We are proud and thankful to be a long standing ongoing supplier in both engineering and fabrication services for L3-MAPPS. We also note that this is the second major project that Mechtronix has been awarded by L-3 MAPPS, as it had previously been mandated to engineer and manufacture a simulator hardware platform for the Ling Ao nuclear reactor in China, a unit today in operation."
