ULA CEO Michael C. Gass Receives 2009 Peter B. Teets Award
WASHINGTON, July 24 /PRNewswire/ — Mr. Michael C. Gass, president and chief executive officer of United Launch Alliance, is the honored recipient of this year’s Peter B. Teets Award from the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) for championing the cause of space transportation.
“Mr. Gass has made lasting and significant contributions to the nation’s space launch capabilities, thereby ensuring our continued leadership in space for the decades ahead,” said NDIA President Lt. Gen. Lawrence P. Farrell, Jr., USAF (Ret).
Gass is an aerospace industry leader with more than 28 years of experience contributing to an unprecedented national space launch capability. His background includes management and senior level positions with various Atlas launch vehicle programs, including production, program management and executive leadership. Throughout his career, he has been a consistent voice for continuous improvement and innovation throughout the space enterprise, including his work with Titan and other aerospace programs.

As president and CEO of United Launch Alliance (ULA), Gass has been responsible for managing the merger of two former competitors with distinctly different corporate cultures into a single, unified company, while maintaining a 100 percent mission success record. He leads a company focused on the design, development, fabrication, launch and improvement of the most reliable launch systems ever developed by the United States, specifically the Atlas V, Delta II and Delta IV launch systems. Through his leadership, ULA will continue to launch critical assets that enable science, ensure national security and contribute to improving the nation’s quality of life.
