Fender recalls bass amplifiers
The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Fender Musical Instruments bass amplifiers due to a fire hazard.
About 90 SWR Natural Blonde Acoustic Bass Amplifiers were sold at authorized retailers nationwide between April 2007 and May 2009 for about $1,550, the commission said.
The 120V amplifiers, model 44-60600-000, can overheat to the point of starting a fire, the commission said.
The amplifiers were imported from Mexico by Fender Musical Instruments Corp. of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled amplifiers and contact Fender for a free inspection and repair.
