Anaheim University Online Student Banks on Making Green in Green Industry

Posted on: Friday, 31 July 2009, 13:50 CDT

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 31 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- "I haven't even started the program yet, and I am already looking at job prospects and my Green Venture," stated Greg Katacs, a Canadian Ecopreneur in his forties and soon-to-be student in Anaheim University's Online Green MBA.

Katacs stated, "I have always been interested in working in a field where I could have a positive impact on the world. Then I came across a Newsweek article about President Obama allocating $60 billion for the creation of Green Jobs. A month later, I picked up an Associated Press article announcing Australian Prime Minister Rudd's commitment to creating 50,000 Green jobs. It immediately hit me - why not begin preparing myself so I will be qualified when these jobs start getting doled out? Better yet - why not learn about the industry and create my own job in helping to dole out the jobs?"

He began looking for environmental-related graduate programs and came across a few Sustainable Management programs, including Anaheim University's Online Green MBA, which he decided suited his needs as he couldn't afford to relocate or quit his job to study on campus.

Katacs said "It just made sense to me. What better way to address global issues such as global warming, development of renewable energies, carbon trading, and many other issues that the world faces, than to study with students from all over the globe? The real clincher for me was the individualized capstone project at the end of the program where we get to spend two terms implementing a sustainable project of our own creation."

He hopes to use this project to develop a portal Web site specifically focusing on Green Jobs and helping visitors apply for these jobs. After graduating, he plans to expand the content of the site to include various topics and consulting services including carbon trading, renewable energies, reducing carbon emissions, bio-fuel partnerships, clean energy vehicle technology, CSR and many other green initiatives he will learn about in the Green MBA.

"I hope to be able to hire some of my classmates at Anaheim to assist me in building what I believe will be the Internet's most successful green portal site," said Katacs.
