Grain futures mostly lower Tuesday

Grains futures closed mostly lower on the Chicago Board of Trade Tuesday, as the dollar moved higher against the euro.

Corn was off 3 to off 3 1/2, soybeans were off 11 1/4 to up 3, wheat was off 4 3/4 to off 5 1/4 and oats were unchanged to off 2.

Corn futures fell with China’s reported sale of 834,000 metric tons. Wheat fell despite Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s announcement yield in Russia would fall 85 million metric tons this year. Reducing reserves, China said it would auction 500,000 metric tons of soybeans this week.

The prices:

Corn: Sep 3.54 1/2, off 3 1/2; Dec 3.65 3/4, off 3 1/4; Mar 3.79, off 3; May 3.88 1/2, off 3.

Soybeans: Aug 10.57 1/2, up 3; Sep 9.64, off 4; Nov 9.16, off 11; Jan 9.19 3/4, off 11 1/4.

Wheat: Sep 5.11 1/2 off 4 3/4; Dec 5.39, off 4 3/4; Mar 5.57 1/4, off 5 1/4; May 5.69 3/4, off 5.

Oats: Sep 2.11, unchanged; Dec 2.25, off 2; Mar 2.37, off 2; May 2.45, off 2.
