Kaplan baby hammocks recalled

August 4, 2009

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Kaplan Early Learning baby hammocks due to fall and strangulation hazards.

About 200 of the La Siesta Yayita Baby Hammocks were imported from Colombia by Kaplan Early Learning Co. of Lewisville, N.C., and sold through catalog sales from July 2005 through August 2008 for about $100.

The hammocks are cream-colored swing seats with La Siesta printed on a tag below the restraint straps.

The hammocks can flip upside down, posing a hazard for infants, the commission said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the baby hammocks and contact Kaplan for full credit for another purchase.

Consumers can call 800-334-2014 for information.
