Spalding basketball hoops recalled
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Spalding in-ground basketball hoops due to an impact hazard.
The bolts holding the base of the basketball hoop can fail, causing the hoops to fall over, possibly causing an injury.
About 1,700 in-ground hoops were imported from China by Russell Brands LLC of Alexander City, Ala., and sold nationwide at sports stores between January 2009 and July 209 for between $600 and $1,700 apiece.
The recall involves basketball hoops with a clear backboard. The MC Sports Series, Triple Eight Series and Arena View units are included in the recall.
Consumers were advise to stop using the recalled hoops and contact Russell Brands for free replacement parts.
