Homelite generators recalled
The U.S. company that sells Homelite, Husky and Black Max generators is recalling thousands of them because they might catch fire, federal officials say.
The generators, made in China for Homelite Consumer Products Inc., of Anderson, S.C., include a fuel gauge that can leak, creating a potential fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in announcing the voluntary recall.
About 51,750 generators were sold through Sam’s Club and Home Depot stores from July 2008 through this May for between $480 and $1,600 each.
Consumers were advised to stop using the generators and contact Homelite Consumer Products for a free repair kit.
