BAE lays off workers on defense review
Defense contractor BAE said 314 employees in Minnesota would be laid off due to a canceled contract for a non-line-of-sight cannon.
These layoffs come as a result of the partial termination notice and stop-work orders the company received for its Future Combat Systems manned ground vehicle program contracts, company spokeswoman Kelly Golden said, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Tuesday.
The cancellation is part of a sweeping review of defense spending, the newspaper said.
Recently, U.S. President Barack Obama said,
our troops and our taxpayers deserve better, referring to an initiative to stop overly expensive defense contracts.
