Durabrand DVD players recalled

About 1.5 million Durabrand DVD players are being recalled voluntarily because they could overheat and start a fire, a U.S. watchdog agency says.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the units were imported from China by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville, Ark., and sold at Wal-Mart stores from January 2006 through last month for about $29 each.

The recalled DVD players are silver with a U-shaped opening to insert the DVD.

Consumers were advised to stop using the units and return them to Wal-Mart for a full refund.

Consumers can call 800-925-6278 for information.
