XIOM Expands its Exclusive Agreement with ORICA to all of Asia and Pacific Region

WEST BABYLON, N.Y., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As a result of the very close working relationship that has developed between Xiom Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: XMCP) and Orica Powder & Industrial Coatings and the relative market synergies, technical strengths, and geographic spread of each business, it was recently agreed between the companies to expand their distribution agreement further. The territory into which Orica will be now responsible for controlling the distribution of Xiom's Thermal Spray application equipment will be expanded to include all of Asia and the Pacific, while in turn it was agreed that Xiom Corp will distribute Orica's specialized range of XAINE Thermal Polymer Alloy (TPA) powder coatings in North and Central America.

Over the last year or so, Xiom and Orica have had their respective research and development teams working very closely together to maximize the potential of Xiom's Thermal Spray application systems. The Xiom research and development team's focus was to further refine Xiom's existing application systems and also to develop new guns and ancillary equipment. The results of this work have seen an increase in output and coverage, resulting in an expanded range of application possibilities, and also the development of some innovative new equipment soon to be released. The Orica Powder & Industrial Coating research and development team's focus was to design, formulate and manufacture a specialized range of Thermal Polymer Alloy powder coatings specifically for Xiom equipment's unique style of flame spray application where there was a need for a new product range that had high thermal shock resistance, instant cure, while being tough and exterior durable.

The respective strengths and expertise of the two research and development teams has proven to be an excellent marriage with the combination of skills leading to some innovative new products.

The next few months will see the first stage of all this research and development work finally come to fruition when the new generation of Xiom equipment is released to market and the XAINE Thermal Polymer Alloy powder coatings become available. Both companies are totally committed to keeping the combined research and development process going and further work continues on the development of an expanded range of application equipment and XAINE Thermal Polymer Alloy coatings.

Xiom Corp. is a technology business offering delivery of plastic powder coatings at on-site locations utilizing the XIOM 1000 System. Powder coating currently is a process in which metal parts are brought into a factory environment where they are cleaned and prepared to receive a powder coating. Plastic in powder form is then applied to the various metal parts by means of an electrostatic charge that causes the powder to adhere to the surface. The coated part is then heated in an oven for a period of time to cause the plastic to melt and adhere to the substrate. Although we use plastic powder, we do not electrostatically charge that powder in order for it to adhere to a substrate. We use a different mechanism which simultaneously applies and fuses the powder to a substrate. The advantage of this process is that the coating process is totally portable and can be applied anywhere, not necessarily in a factory setting, and can be applied without use of an oven to cure the coating, and can be applied to most substrates in addition to the metal substrate to which powder coatings are traditionally applied in a factory, using an oven.
