August 25, 2009
Crude oil prices fell from 10-year highs in morning trading Tuesday, trading at $73.95 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
That was down from Monday’s close of $74.37 and follows lower prices on foreign exchanges overnight. Analysts say oil prices are following declines in stock prices, which also dropped on foreign exchanges.
Heating oil futures were trading at $1.9138 per gallon, down 96 points or 0.5 percent lower while reformulated gasoline was trading at $2.0464 per gallon, 27 points lower.
AAA said the average U.S. retail regular unleaded gasoline price was $2.623 per gallon, down from Monday’s average of $2.626.
