TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Repower Michigan, a project of the Alliance for Climate Protection, today announced it will launch a statewide Made in America Jobs Tour with two events highlighting the benefits to Michigan workers and businesses of transitioning to a clean energy economy.
"Michigan workers and their families have been hit hard by the economic downturn, but we can create good jobs with good wages for today's workers right here in Michigan, right here in America, by investing in a clean energy economy," said Luke Canfora, Repower Michigan's state director.
According to the Center for American Progress, transitioning to a clean energy economy will create more than 61,000 new jobs here in Michigan, while reducing harmful carbon pollution and breaking our dependence on foreign oil.
Repower Michigan's jobs tour will include an August 27 roundtable discussion in Traverse City and a September 2 'Made in America' rally featuring leaders from the business and labor communities that are so important to Michigan's economy. Both will feature experts discussing ways that the clean energy economy is helping Michigan. On August 20th, the Alliance for Climate Protection and the Blue Green Alliance kicked off the nationwide Made in America Jobs Tour and are partnering on several events across the country through September.
