NEW YORK, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- SustainLINK introduces the most eco-intelligent banks and credit unions in the U.S. through an innovative profile tool.
Bank depositors looking to do their part regarding climate change, environmental responsibility and societal stewardship now have a new tool to help them select their banking relationships. SustainLINK provides a free service profiling only the most eco-conscious banks and credit unions in the country.
The number of Americans supporting businesses that are genuinely committed to societal stewardship and environmental responsibility is at a record high. As a result, customer demand for eco-conscious banking is taking hold. It is expected that deposits into eco-intelligent banks will increase by 38% during the next year.
"At this juncture in our history, we expect bank depositors will seek eco-intelligent banks and credit unions as a way to align their values with their money," said Dan Parker, SustainLINK's Chief Strategy Officer he added, "Before our qualification process, an independent information source differentiating eco-intelligent banks from those who are not, didn't exist."
All selected banks have gone through a qualification process and share a common commitment to facilitating triple bottom line practices both internally and externally. Parker added, "Banks that do not qualify as eco-intelligent, will not be profiled."
"Green Bank is built around sustainability. It is part of our mission and a differentiator that is important to many of our customers," said Geoff Greenwade, President and CEO of Green Bank. "Being recognized by SustainLINK strengthens this commitment and is an indicator of the new ways that clients judge service providers."
"As a pioneer in corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability we are honored to be chosen by SustainLINK as one of the first eco-intelligent banks in the country," said Steven F. Young, Senior Vice President, Wainwright Bank.
SustainLINK is proud to announce the selection of the first round eco-intelligent financial institutions by recognizing their commitment to sustainable practices. We congratulate Green Bank - Houston, TX, Wainwright Bank - Boston, MA, ShoreBank Pacific - Ilwaco, WA, Devon Bank - Chicago, New Resource Bank - San Francisco, Alternatives Federal Credit Union - Ithica, NY, Berkshire Bank - Pittsfield, MA, Home Savings Bank - Madison, WI, One California Bank, Oakland, CA, and GreenChoice Bank (IO) - Chicago.
Daniel Loundy, Vice President of Devon Bank says "We are delighted to be designated as eco-intelligent and consider this to be an important step towards raising the bar. He added, we applaud SustainLINK's innovation to inform depositors of new ways they can contribute to sustainability."
Beyond eco-intelligent profiling, what's unique about SustainLINK is the ability to directly connect sustainable improvement to financial incentives for borrowers, including lower cost of capital. This means business borrowers may qualify for lower rates if they improve in certain areas, so it's a win-win," says Parker.
