WoodMaster outdoor furnaces recalled

Federal officials announced a voluntary recall of WoodMaster AFS 900 outdoor furnaces because of fire hazards caused by faulty temperature gauges.

The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission said the furnaces were made by Northwest Manufacturing Inc. of Red Lake Falls, Minn., which has received 12 reports of fire in the fuel storage hopper of the furnaces.

The furnaces, which come in red, green, taupe, camouflage, brown, black and gray, were sold between July 2006 and last February for about $6,000 each.

Consumers were advised to stop using the furnaces immediately and contact Northwest Manufacturing for a free repair.

Consumers can call 800-932-3629 for information.
