Raytheon Hires Air Force Network Operations Expert For Cybersecurity Post

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Sept. 22, 2009 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has hired retired Air Force Col. Ward Heinke as director of cyber defense solutions for its Information Security Solutions (ISS) business.

Heinke joined Raytheon after serving as the commander of the 608th Air Force Network Operations Center, Barksdale Air Force Base, La. He had daily command and control responsibilities for Air Force classified and unclassified networks worldwide.
"Ward is a terrific addition and will play a vital role on our growing cybersecurity team," said Steve Hawkins, vice president of ISS at Raytheon. "His extensive experience in network operations and crisis communications will be of great value to Raytheon's customers."
Heinke also coordinated and implemented combatant commander requests for computer network operations forces and effects and developed strategy and options to support evolving U.S. Strategic Command missions.
Heinke's previous post was as deputy commander and chief of staff for the White House Communications Agency. He ensured that the president, vice president, Cabinet members, National Security Council, Secret Service and White House Military Office could communicate under any conditions from any location or platform worldwide.
Heinke has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from The Ohio State University and a master's degree in general administration from Central Michigan University. He is based in Raytheon's Falls Church, Va., office.
