‘Parachute’ hammocks recalled

September 23, 2009

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Travel Hammock Parachute hammocks due to a fall hazard.

About 2,500 single and double Parachute Hammocks were imported from Indonesia by Travel Hammock Inc., doing business as Grand Trunk of Skokie , Ill., and sold nationwide from July 2008 through June 2009 for between $50 and $60.

Support hooks sold with the hammocks can fail, putting the consumer at risk, the commission said Wednesday.

The hammocks were sold in single and double sizes in a nylon sack with Grand Trunk printed on the sack. The were sold in olive, khaki, blue, yellow, and red.

Consumers were advised to stop using the hammocks and contact the company for a free repair kit.

Consumers can call 877-365-2965 for information.
