Grain futures close mostly higher Monday

Grain futures closed mostly higher Monday after stocks on Wall Street closed in the black following four consecutive trading sessions in the red.

Corn was up 7 1/4 to up 8, soybeans were off 4 1/2 to unchanged; wheat was up 1 to up 1 1/2 and oats were up 1 1/2.

Corn futures rose supported by the dollar’s decline against the euro and the yen Monday. Wheat rose despite beneficial rain expected in Argentina. Soybean futures fell with the 2009 U.S. harvest 15 percent complete, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday.

The prices:

Corn: Dec 3.41 1/2, up 8; Mar 3.54 1/4, up 7 3/4; May 3.63 1/4, up 7 3/4; Jul 3.71, up 7 1/4.

Soybeans: Nov 8.85, unchanged; Jan 8.90 3/4, off 1 1/4; Mar 8.90 3/4, off 4 1/2; May 9.60 1/2, off 3.

Wheat: Dec 4.42 3/4, up 1 1/2; Mar 4.62 1/4, up 1 1/2; May 4.74 1/2, up 1; Jul 4.86 1/2, up 1.

Oats: Dec 2.22, up 1 1/2; Mar 2.35 1/2, up 1 1/2; May 2.44, up 1 1/2; Jul 2.53 1/2, up 1 1/2.
