Posted on: Wednesday, 7 October 2009, 08:11 CDT

GRIFFIN, Ga., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Osmose, Inc., a global supplier of wood preservative products, announced today that it has completed the purchase of the wood preservatives business of PhibroWood LLC, a subsidiary of Phibro Animal Health Corporation. PhibroWood's business focuses primarily on the manufacture and sale of micronized copper and ACQ wood preservative products.

The acquisition includes the assets PhibroWood used in the business, such as patents, patent applications, trademarks and trade names, and certain manufacturing equipment and inventories. The transaction also includes the settlement of certain ongoing intellectual property disputes between the parties.

"This acquisition is both timely and strategic," said Paul A. Goydan, president of Osmose, Inc. "Specifically, it allows us to consolidate the intellectual properties and technologies involved in producing a wide range of micronized wood additive and wood-preservative products."

Osmose, Inc. is the leading worldwide supplier of wood preservatives used to protect wood in outdoor environments against fungal decay and termite attack. Since 1934, Osmose has produced high-quality, reliable wood preservatives, including its MicroPro® system, which utilizes micronized copper wood technology.
