Non-Profit Foundation will Benefit the Joint Base Andrews Community

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — AMC East Communities, a joint venture between Clark Realty Capital and the Department of the Air Force, announced today its plans to form the Andrews Education Foundation, a non-profit foundation that will support the educational needs of the Joint Base Andrews Air Force community.

“We are delighted to announce this new initiative to enhance the educational resources available to this military community,” said Sean Callahan, development executive at Clark Realty Capital. “We will work with Joint Base Andrews leadership, Prince George’s County Public Schools, and the Andrews Business Alliance in the weeks ahead to establish the process for raising and distributing philanthropic funds to deserving educational institutions serving the Andrews community.”

The foundation will receive philanthropic support from fundraising activities sponsored by AMC East Communities and will also engage the broader business community for additional financial support. Grants from the foundation will benefit educational institutions on Joint Base Andrews as well as surrounding Prince George’s County Public Schools, to include the Francis T. Evans Elementary School and the Stephen Decatur Middle School.

The Andrews Education Foundation will encourage Prince George’s County Public Schools to utilize small, local, and minority owned businesses to perform any capital improvement projects or educational enrichment programs that are funded from philanthropic proceeds. “Our hope is that this program will benefit not only our military families but also the local small business community to create economic development opportunities in Prince George’s County,” said Callahan.

The non-profit foundation will host its first fundraising event in Spring 2010 with a goal to secure $75,000 in charitable donations. To date, Clark Realty Capital and its affiliates have raised more than $1 million in philanthropic proceeds, a significant portion of which has benefitted educational institutions serving military communities across the country.
