SUMMIT, N.J., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ — The Reeves-Reed Arboretum presented their first corporate citizen award on Sunday, October 4, 2009. The recipient, Marcal Manufacturing, LLC, was commended by Vickie Guagliardo, Vice President of the Board of Trustees. “Marcal has a history of environmental stewardship and is leading the industry in paper recycling,” said Guagliardo. Marcal Manufacturing has been an integral part of Northern New Jersey for over five decades. While filling up blue recycling bins with household paper and dragging it to the curb each week may not be on the top of the list for most exciting things to do, it is a crucial step toward saving the planet. Marcal® Brand 100% recycled products are produced from paper collected from more than 600 municipalities from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and New England. With this award has come the admirable recognition for their incessant efforts to save trees and spread the word about the dangers of clear cutting forests. The award was received by CEO Tim Spring, Senior Vice President of Marketing MJ Jolda and Vice President of Operations Dhamo Srinivasan.

“Being at such an awe inspiring and serene arboretum filled with over 13 acres of natural beauty reminded me just how important preserving natural places just like this one are. Knowing that millions of trees are being cut down each year just to be flushed down the toilet is just not an acceptable option. Using 100% recycled paper to create our products is a vital step toward preserving the natural beauty of trees. Unfortunately, it is only in Autumn we collectively come together as a nation, look at the beauty of leaves changing color, and stop and reflect on our deep appreciation for trees,” said Tim Spring, the CEO of Marcal. “We take our commitment to changing the paper industry very seriously, and we will continue to raise awareness of just how beneficial trees are to the environment. Let’s let trees do what they do best, clean our air,” he added. In addition to their obvious beauty, trees scrub the environment by converting carbon dioxide to pure oxygen. The mood at the ceremony was unanimous, “If you love trees, then you’ll agree we need to stop killing them to wastefully flush down the toilet,” Ms. Jolda concluded.
