Dr. Gary Ender Named Abt Associates Fellow

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Abt Associates has announced the appointment of Dr. Gary Ender as Abt Associates Fellow. Dr. Ender is an agricultural economist and Principle Associate in the company's International Economic Growth Division.
Dr. Ender has more than 25 years of experience in the areas of agricultural policy reform, monitoring and evaluation, understanding the impact of macroeconomic and agricultural policies on agribusiness development, and food security. He is currently managing the development and implementation of a monitoring and evaluation system for USAID's projects in support of the Initiative to End Hunger in Africa. Prior to this, for six years he was Chief of Party of the Monitoring, Verification, and Evaluation Unit of the Agricultural Policy Reform Program in Egypt, USAID's largest activity of this type. He was also a resident advisor on USAID projects in Pakistan and the Philippines.
In 2006-07, he directed a technical team at Abt Associates that developed a random assignment evaluation design for the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Before joining Abt Associates in 1989, Dr. Ender worked as an agricultural economist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service, where he analyzed producer and consumer subsidies as part of the GATT/WTO negotiations.

Dr. Ender received an M.S. and Ph.D. from Cornell University in agricultural economics and a B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in economics.
