RIDGEFIELD, Wash., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Power Products Company announced today it has joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay Transport® Community. Effective immediately, Pacific Power Products will follow SmartWay(SM) program guidelines to help transport and logistics companies make better choices for their businesses and the environment by providing tools and information to reduce emissions and fuel consumption, save money and make a positive difference.
"Pacific Power Products is pleased to add its name to the growing list of companies who are taking an active role in reducing the impacts of the transportation industry," said Jerry Tyrrell, president, Pacific Power Products. "Given our 40-plus years of experience in the diesel power business and our strong associations with leading manufacturers of idle reduction, exhaust treatment, and other fuel saving technologies, we can ensure end users will not only have access to certified installations of these products, but also a long term commitment to a reliable parts, service and maintenance network that will keep these technologies performing at their intended levels throughout the product life cycle."
The SmartWay Transport® Partnership Program is a broad-reaching initiative that supports freight shippers, carriers and logistics companies in setting and achieving goals that increase fuel efficiency and reduce emission of greenhouse gases and air pollutants. For 2010, the EPA plans to expand the program beyond on-highway applications to include air and marine carriers as well. The EPA works with affiliate organizations such as Pacific Power Products to help support these efforts through education, promotion and the appropriate application of existing and emerging technologies.
SmartWay(SM) verified products currently offered by Pacific Power Products include Donaldson Filtration and Exhaust Treatment systems; Idle-reducing Auxiliary Power Units, Webasto environmental systems and NITE+ Battery and Shore Power systems, fuel-saving Silver Eagle Aerodynamic Truck and Trailer Equipment and Meritor Automatic Tire Inflation systems.
