SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation has given $150,000 to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) to support their emergency student aid initiative. This initiative helps thousands of recession-impacted students enroll for their senior year and receive their college degree.
"The recession is placing current senior class students in danger of not graduating from college due to the lack of funds. Lowe's Emergency Student Aid Campaign comes at a critical time in the academic career of these young people and reflects the company's commitment to our graduating scholars and is further evidence of Lowe's recognition of the importance of an educated citizenry. We are proud to partner with Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation to ensure the success of these talented Americans," said Frank D. Alvarez, HSF President and CEO.
Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation grant will focus on assisting students at colleges and universities in five states: California, Colorado, Nevada, New York and Texas. Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation worked with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund to determine where it could provide the most impact to students who were in danger of not graduating because of a lack of tuition money.
"Lowe's is committed to supporting organizations that give students the resources to become tomorrow's employees, homeowners and community leaders," said Larry Stone, chairman of Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation. "By supporting organizations like the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Lowe's is contributing to a cause that is important to our customers and employees by investing in helping students achieve their fullest potential by completing their college degrees."
