New England Environmental Lab Receives Department of Defense Accreditation

WESTBOROUGH, Mass., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Alpha Analytical received formal notification of compliance with the Department of Defense (DoD) Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP). This accreditation standardizes and elevates the laboratory testing requirements put forth by the US Navy, US Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE), and the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment (AFCEE). Laboratories working to secure DoD environmental restoration projects are required to be accredited under this program.
According to the DoD Environmental Accreditation Program fact sheet, "(E)ffective October 1, 2009, laboratories who are seeking to perform testing in support of the DoD environmental restoration (i.e. cleanup) programs need to be accredited in accordance with DoD ELAP. Laboratories that currently have DoD Component approvals in place (Army, Navy, Air Force) prior to this date will be subject to DoD ELAP requirements when these approvals expire or when additions or modifications to their scope of approval are required."
