Twaron – Ballistic Protection for a Safer World Exhibits at Milipol

November 13, 2009

ARNHEM, The Netherlands, November 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Teijin
Aramid will be exhibiting at the Milipol Trade Fair in Paris from November
17-20, 2009
on booth 11E 068. Among others Teijin Aramid will present the
Twaron Ballistic Microfilament Fiber Technology, the Twaron Laminated Fabric
Technology (LFT) and the newly developed Twaron Sideguard, a bullet side exit
protection for body armor.

Teijin Aramid presents its Twaron Ballistic Microfilament Fiber
technology, which, thanks to the enhanced quality of the fibers, allows body
armor manufacturers to produce comfortable, lightweight protective vests.
This technology is the basis for a complete family of Twaron products,
including bullet and fragment-resistant fabrics, anti-stabbing materials, and
advanced ballistic laminates. Microfilament-based Twaron Laminated Fabric
Technology (LFT) is the basis of the next generation of aramid body armor
with an excellent weight-performance-comfort ratio. Thanks to the chemical
stability of the para-aramid polymer used, vests made with these fabrics
typically have long lifetimes, while continuously providing high levels of

Whether in ground vehicles or aircraft, Twaron ballistic laminates
provide intelligent and effective protection against high-energy bullets,
hand grenades, explosive blasts and secondary fragments – even increased
protection against specific mines. Twaron laminates can easily be installed
during or after the construction of vehicles, either alone or as part of a
compound containing a wide variety of materials.

Comprehensive research, development and application facilities, including
an in-house shooting range and a close cooperation with body armor
manufacturers, helmet manufacturers, and vehicle armorers, enable Teijin
Aramid to develop innovative solutions that meet end-users’ specific needs.
