California American Water Provides Its Ventura County Customers Free Water Leak Detection Kit
NEWBURY PARK, Calif., Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ — In an effort to help customers comply with restrictions on water use resulting from a reduced water supply, California American Water mailed local customers a water leak detection kit encouraging them to go green for the holidays and reduce water use during the winter months. California American Water’s customers were supplied a leak detection kit to encourage them to check their water outlets for leaks and save water inside and outside, and lower their water bill.
“Each year, thousands of gallons of water are wasted due to undetected leaks. Small leaks can quickly add up to many gallons of lost water,” said California American Water’s Ventura County operations manager Al Yanez. “A dripping faucet can waste 15 gallons a day and a 1/8-inched sized leak consumes more than 4,000 gallons per day. Most customers never even know they have leaks, and could have had them for months or years.”
California American Water’s Leak Detection Kit provides customers with valuable information and simple instructions on how to locate and repair water leaks. Customers will learn how to identify some common and not-so-common indoor and outdoor leaks.
“California American Water is committed to giving our Ventura County service district customers the knowledge, tools, programs and resources necessary to reduce their water use and save money this holiday season,” said Yanez. “Most leaks are easy to find, but some can go undetected.”
The leak detection kits are part of a larger campaign in which California American Water is encouraging customers to go green for the holidays. The campaign also includes:
- Rebates on water saving devices, high efficiency washing machines and dishwashers
- Free Water Wise Home Audits
- Free water-saving hose nozzles and shower heads
- Magnets with a watering schedule
- Water Conservation Wheels
California American Water offers free Water Wise House Calls to local residential and multi-residential customers, as well as low-flow hose nozzles and other water-saving devices.
