Baseline and Nelson Irrigation Announce Agricultural Irrigation Controllers

November 30, 2009

WALLA WALLA, Wash. and MERIDIAN, Idaho, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ — Baseline, the leader in two-wire and soil moisture sensor based irrigation control technologies, and Nelson Irrigation, the leader in innovative agricultural irrigation technologies, jointly announced today immediate availability of the Nelson 8200 Irrigation Controller for Agriculture.

The Nelson 8200 Series Controller is specifically designed to work with Nelson’s 800 Series Control Valves and includes an innovative and simple-to-use interface tailored to agricultural use. The system includes Baseline’s highly reliable two-wire controls to provide industry leading flexibility, reliability and simplicity of installation and operation.

Bob Rupar, Vice President of Marketing at Nelson Irrigation said, “Baseline is the premier control system manufacturer in the turf and landscape irrigation business, and we are very enthused about working with them to bring this unique and powerful two-wire control system to irrigated agriculture. Our mission has always been to save water, save energy, and do a better job of irrigating – and this technology can help do all three with the added benefit of saving labor – an increasing concern in agriculture.”

“We are extremely excited to be working with Nelson on these products,” said John Fordemwalt, President of Baseline. “Nelson is the world leader in reliability and ease of use for agricultural watering. This collaboration has allowed us to combine the benefits of advanced technology with the simplicity and reliability that busy farmers really need.”

Jon Peters, Director of Sales for Baseline added, “Working with such an experienced team has resulted in a fantastic product. We believe that these control products will mark a new chapter in irrigation automation for agriculture.”

The 8200 provides farmers more flexibility and control in watering schedules without the complexity and headaches associated with typical irrigation timers. A secure access code feature allows field hands to start, stop, or pause intelligent watering programs without accidentally modifying watering schedules.

In field testing, the 8200 has resulted in dramatic improvements in watering efficiency, lower labor costs and reduced organic field and crop disturbance.

The 8200 is the first in a series of irrigation controllers for Agriculture to be jointly developed by Nelson and Baseline.
