Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI) Launches New Membership Program Designed to Create the World’s Largest Community of Greenhouse Gas Professionals

December 1, 2009

WASHINGTON, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI) announced today the launch of a new initiative that will establish a large and dynamic community of individuals and organizations concerned with climate change and involved in the management of greenhouse gas emissions globally.

The New Membership Program from GHGMI is a first of its kind, and is open to any individual or organization that is interested in connecting with like-minded professionals wishing to participate in a community working to reduce the impact of greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.

“Our objective with this new program is to provide the world with something it has not had until now; a professional society that will connect and develop the emerging community of GHG experts around the world,” said Michael Gillenwater, Executive Director of the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute. “We expect this launch to be one more step in the process of assuring the rigor and credibility of climate change policies and carbon markets.”

Discounts on courses and programs, interactive webinars, a membership directory, a career center and an expansive collection of online resources are just a few of the exciting elements of the new Premium membership program.

“I became a premium member of the GHG Management Institute to connect with GHG accounting experts around the world, and to be part of the professionalization of a new industry”, said Wiley Barbour, Vice President of Corporate Development at Camco, a leading climate change and sustainable development company. “Managing carbon risks and opportunities requires a whole new generation of scientists, engineers and analysts trained to measure and report GHG emissions – the Institute is the home for that community of experts.”
