MILWAUKEE, Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ — Motorists in Green Bay, Madison, and Milwaukee have so far made nearly 50,000 calls to friends and family across the United States and to more than 24 countries compliments of CITGO Petroleum Corporation’s holiday phone card program. Running from November 15 to December 31, the CITGO phone card program gives motorists a $3 phone card with the purchase of 10 gallons of fuel at participating CITGO locations.

“With the hectic lives that people live these days, it can be so easy to lose touch with the people that matter the most,” said Dick Spiegel CITGO Marketer and President of SOS Fuels. “By providing phone cards to motorists during this holiday season, CITGO Petroleum and its network of locally owned CITGO stations are helping to bring families and friends closer together, no matter how many miles separate them.”

“CITGO and its network of nearly 7,000 locally owned retail locations are dedicated to serving the communities in which they operate. Providing phone cards to bring families and friends closer is another way to give back to the people who support the CITGO brand and these local stations every day,” added Spiegel.

The phone cards are supported by leading telecommunications firm Poplar Telecom Group and provide excellent rates on calls made across town, across the country or across the globe. The program is running at more than 300 participating CITGO locations in Green Bay, Madison and Milwaukee, Wis. through the end of the year. The cards provide the perfect opportunity for people to catch up with loved ones, discuss their favorite sports team with friends or to use as holiday gifts.

Based on the underlying principals of solidarity and social development held by CITGO and its shareholder, Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the CITGO phone card program is an example of how CITGO works hard to provide programs and products which allow its network of nearly 7,000 locally owned retail locations to continue to grow and succeed.
