Arizona American Water Employees Giving Back

December 17, 2009

PHOENIX, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ — Arizona American Water and its employees are supporting local communities in a number of ways this holiday season. The giving spirit has fostered an internal competition to see which employee group can do the most to help those in need. They are competing to see which group can collect the most food to donate to St. Mary’s food bank. The food and supplies will be collected by the end of the week and distributed to food banks around the state this holiday season.

Arizona American Water employees are also supporting the Toys for Tots program once again this year. Gifts they donate and collect will be taken to the Scottsdale Fire Department which will distribute them to families in need.

“Our employees live in both the east and west valley and understand that now is a time of need more than ever and want to help those who could use some assistance this year,” said Paul Townsley, Arizona American Water’s president. “We are thankful for what we have and want to share what we can to support the communities we live in and serve. For me, it has been heart-warming to see their genuine excitement to help others.”

Arizona American Water also supported the Tubac community in “Operation Bootstrap.” This program provides new shoes for any person who needs a pair. Last year the program donated more than 8,000 pairs of shoes. Arizona American Water employees made sure the volunteers were fully hydrated by donating water as volunteers worked through the day to put new shoes on people’s feet.
