Meet Your New Designated Driver
MIAMI, Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ — The Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) is partnering with AAA Auto Club South and Budweiser to make sure drivers in South Florida get home safely this New Year’s weekend by providing a FREE ride home for intoxicated drivers and their cars.
Tow-To-Go is a SAFE, FREE and CONFIDENTIAL alternative for individuals who find themselves in a potential drunk-driving situation. If a driver has had too much to drink, they can simply call 1-800-AAA-HELP and request the Tow-To-Go service. A tow truck will arrive and safely provide a FREE ride home and a FREE tow of the vehicle.
Starting Thursday, drivers stopping at one of MDX’s toll booths will receive a postcard with instructions and the Tow-To-Go phone number. This life-saving service, offered during major holidays, has provided nearly 10,000 safe rides home in the past decade and will run until January 2, 2010.
Assigning a designated driver is the easiest and safest way to ring in the New Year. Before taking a chance behind the wheel, drivers are urged to call 1-800-AAA-HELP and potentially avoid a tragedy. Tow-To-Go will also be offered during Pro-Bowl and Super Bowl weekends.
MDX’s top concern is safety and Tow-To-Go is one more phase in a campaign launched earlier this year encouraging drivers to stay alert and keep the roads of South Florida safe. For more information regarding Tow-To-Go and additional life-saving tips, log on to www.mdxsafety.com.
MDX is a state sanctioned, locally administered, public agency created in 1994 by the State of Florida and the Board of County Commissioners of Miami-Dade County. MDX is governed by its Board, comprised of 13 volunteer members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and the Governor of the State of Florida. MDX oversees, operates and maintains five expressways: State Road 836 (Dolphin Expressway), State Road 112 (Airport Expressway), State Road 874 (Don Shula Expressway), State Road 878 (Snapper Creek Expressway) and State Road 924 (Gratigny Parkway). MDX is funded almost entirely by toll revenue and is dedicated to moving Miami-Dade County forward. For more information on MDX visit the website at www.mdxway.com.
