33 Smithfield Foods Facilities Recognized with AMI Environmental MAPS Awards

SMITHFIELD, Va., May 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Thirty-three Smithfield Foods, Inc. (NYSE: SFD) facilities in 18 states have been recognized by the American Meat Institute (AMI) with Environmental MAPS Recognition Awards for their longstanding commitment to environmental stewardship through the organization and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and/or achievement of ISO 14001 certification.

The AMI awards ceremony was held in Kansas City, Missouri on April 30, 2010.
