The winners are …
- San Jose, California (Large Community) – The City of San Jose is being honored for creating and adopting San Jose’s Green Vision, a 15 year roadmap that is intended to model how innovation and environment responsibility can strengthen economic opportunity and be a vital catalyst for spurring prosperity.
- Raleigh, North Carolina (Mid-size Community) – Raleigh is being honored for making sustainability a cornerstone of its vision for the 21st century innovation. The city created an Environmental Advisory Board and an Office of Sustainability to lead its ground-breaking initiatives.
- Greensburg, Kansas (Small Community) – The City of Greensburg is being honored for building a sustainable community after being devastated by a tornado in 2007. The city coined and created The Greensburg Model, which has been praised by FEMA as the model for sustainable recovery for future disaster responses.
