The Evermedia Group, Inc. Announces Corporate Sponsorship of Shelter Legal Services Foundation
BOSTON, May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — The Evermedia Group, Inc. (Evermedia) announced today its corporate sponsorship of Shelter Legal Services Foundation (SLS). This follows the election of CEO Jonathan Sym to the SLS Board of Directors. SLS is a non-profit organization offering free legal advice and representation in non-criminal matters to homeless and low-income individuals with a focus on veterans. SLS conducts clinics at the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home, and other area homeless shelters and service centers.
Specifically, Evermedia will provide technology support to the non-profit, supplying the resources needed to serve over 400 clients annually in the Boston area. Matching Evermedia’s commitment, Evermedia’s accounting firm, M&K CPAS, PLLC, volunteered its services to SLS.
Commenting on SLS, Jonathan Sym, CEO of The Evermedia Group said, “We’re very happy to extend our resources to Shelter Legal. As a service disabled veteran owned business, we strongly believe it’s necessary to support the issues confronting fellow veterans. After learning of Shelter Legal’s contribution to Boston’s homeless veteran community, I immediately volunteered myself and the Company to further their cause. Personally, I believe it’s egregious that one quarter of the homeless population in the United States are actually veterans. By taking advantage of Shelter Legal’s services, we believe many homeless or at-risk veterans will rehabilitate themselves.”
Regarding Sym’s election to SLS’s Board of Directors, Co-Executive Director Anna M. Schleelein, Esq. welcomed Sym saying, “Within a few months of assuming his position on the board, Jonathan contributed much needed technological support, vastly improving our organization’s efficiency. In addition, Jon has connected us with other professionals who have volunteered their services. The end result is that SLS will spend less of its budget on administrative costs, and can devote more resources to its mission of helping the homeless achieve self-sufficiency. Jon’s enthusiasm for SLS will dramatically benefit this organization.”
