SW24 Works With Hudson County, NJ Special Victims Unit of Prosecutor’s Office and Jersey City Police Department to Collar Suspected Rapist
NEW YORK, June 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Digital video surveillance images supplied by SecureWatch24, a local security services company, has led to the arrest of a suspected rapist in Jersey City, NJ. SW24 made videos available to the Special Victims Unit of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and Jersey City Police Department after the incident was captured on multiple cameras. Images of the suspect provided to local New Jersey media resulted in a tip that led to the suspect’s arrest.
“This was a particularly vicious rape and assault and the video supplied by SW24 was a great help in the arrest,” said Sgt. Ken Kolich of the Special Victims Unit, HCPO/JCPD.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said that the Victims Unit received an anonymous tip as a result of a still picture of the suspect captured from the video. The alleged assault took place at a building protected by SW24 surveillance cameras.
“This is a great example of the public and private sectors working together to fight crime using state of the art technology,” said Desmond Smyth, SecureWatch24′s president.
