HAMILTON, ON, June 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ – On Saturday, June 11, CARSTAR
Collision Centres in Canada and the United States will aim to break the
Guinness World Record for the World’s largest car wash by washing more
than 4,100 cars in eight hours at multiple venues.  The North
America-wide world record attempt will see more than 120 events taking
place to break the current record set by CARSTAR in 2009.

In Canada, volunteers and staff from CARSTAR locations will roll up
their sleeves and break out the buckets and sponges for the eighth
annual Soaps It Up for Cystic Fibrosis National Car Wash Event. Various
car wash events across Canada will take place between 10 a.m. and 3
p.m. EST (dates and times subject to vary based on location, full
details listed at www.carstar.ca/soapsitup). The funds raised at the car wash will support Cystic Fibrosis Canada
and local charities.

“The passion, enthusiasm and commitment of CARSTAR’s nationwide network
of franchise partners, and customers and support of local communities
across Canada have made Soaps It Up our largest and most successful
annual fundraising event for eight years running,” said Sam Mercanti,
President and CEO of CARSTAR Automotive Canada Inc.  “We’re hoping to
reach some important milestones in 2011 – we want to break a Guinness
World Record and we want to hit the 2 million dollar mark for funds
raised for Cystic Fibrosis Canada, so we need Canadians to come out to
their local CARSTAR Soaps It Up car wash on June 11 to help us make a
big splash.”

CARSTAR has been a proud supporter of Cystic Fibrosis Canada since
learning that a granddaughter of a Franchise Partner had been diagnosed
with cystic fibrosis (CF). In the last ten years, more than $1.8
million has been raised by CARSTAR Collision Repair Centres to help
find a cure. This year, CARSTAR Canada has set a goal to raise $125,000
nationally through Soaps It Up, putting the total raised during CARSTAR
Canada’s partnership with Cystic Fibrosis Canada at over $2 million.

“Each June we look forward to the annual CARSTAR Soaps It Up fundraising
event and this year’s attempt to break a record adds an exciting
element that we can all rally around,” said Maureen Adamson, Chief
Executive Officer of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. “We commend CARSTAR for
continuing to bring added awareness and funds to the fight against
cystic fibrosis.”

Cystic fibrosis is a multi-system disease that affects mainly the lungs
and the digestive system and is the most common fatal genetic disease
that affects Canadian children and young adults. There is no cure.
Approximately one in every 3,600 children born in Canada has cystic
fibrosis. Each week in Canada, two children are diagnosed with cystic
fibrosis and one person dies from the disease. Ultimately, most
CF-related deaths are due to lung disease.

After eight years of success in Canada, this marks the third consecutive
year that CARSTAR U.S. will be taking part in Soaps It Up. Funds raised
from the American car wash events will benefit the Make-A-Wish
Foundation(®).

“After setting the world record in 2009, we are thrilled to once again
be partnering with our U.S. counterparts in this cross-border
initiative to break the record for the World’s largest car wash”, says
Mercanti.  “Together, through events like Soaps It Up, we are able to
reinforce our commitment to supporting charities and local communities
across North America where we do business.”

Tickets for CARSTAR Soaps It Up can be purchased for a minimum $5
donation and are available at participating CARSTAR locations across
the country or at www.carstar.ca/soapsitup. Consumers who purchase tickets will be eligible for a chance to win
one of over 100 prizes including a trip to Punta Cana, a video gaming
package featuring PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Kinect system and
Nintendo 3DS, a stainless steel BBQ with accessories and gift cards to
Tim Hortons and The Keg.

Sponsors for CARSTAR Soaps It Up include: AIR MILES®, AkzoNobel, BASF,
Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Domino’s Pizza of Canada, King Rose Travel and
Nolitours.

To further raise awareness of the Soaps It Up campaign, CARSTAR
Automotive Canada has released a series of videos to encourage people
to get out and help break a meaningful record. The videos can be viewed
