Cascades Ranks 7th Best Corporate Citizen in Canada According to Corporate Knights Magazine

June 10, 2011

KINGSEY FALLS, QC, June 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ – Cascades Inc. (TSX: CAS)
is proud that it has been selected as the 7(th) best corporate citizen in Canada by Corporate Knights magazine, which focuses on social responsibility and corporate
governance. The magazine publishes annually a short list of the best 50
corporate citizens in Canada, which usually includes Cascades, because
of its environmental, social and governance indicators.

“We are pleased that Cascades’ sustained efforts in sustainable
development are being acknowledged. The company has always aimed to
reach standards that are higher than regularly established standards
and it has continuously innovated its practices that are respectful of
the environment and its stakeholders. It is therefore no surprise that
the water consumption of Cascades units is five times lower than that
of the Canadian pulp and paper industry. Since we believe in the
principle of continuous improvement, we will strive to attain, between
now and the end of 2012, the objectives that we have set for ourselves
in our sustainable development plan, launched last April”, declared
Hubert Bolduc, Vice-President, Communications and Public Affairs.

To reach the unequalled environmental performance for which it has
earned its role as a sustainable development leader, Cascades is
depending on its centres of expertise such as its Environment
Department, its Energy Action Group and its Research and Development
Centre. Cascades is the only paper company in North America to employ a
group of energy efficiency specialists and it has the largest private
Canadian Research and Development Centre in the pulp and paper
industry.

In total transparency, Cascades is publishing its performance indicators
in sustainable development for the years 2008 to 2010 at the following
address www.cascades.com/sustainable-development.

Founded in 1964, Cascades produces, converts and markets packaging and
tissue products that are composed mainly of recycled fibres. The
Company employs more than 11,000 employees, who work in more than 100
units located in North America and Europe. Its management philosophy,
its more than 45 years of experience in recycling and its continued
efforts in research and development are strengths that enable Cascades
to create new products for its customers. Cascades’ shares trade on the
Toronto Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol
CAS.
