Panther Systems Appoints Phil Farmer as New CEO

June 17, 2011

VANCOUVER, Wash., June 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Panther Systems, a leading provider of Quality Control and Automation Systems and Production Management software for the pulp, paper, and tissue industry, has appointed Phil Farmer as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Farmer joins Panther with 25 years of experience in the paper industry. Since 1999 he has held key leadership roles both as a General Manager and Division Vice President at Caraustar, and General Manager at RockTenn, and most recently Graphic Packaging International.

“I have relied on the Panther Team, their products, and their expertise many times over the last 10 years to improve the quality of products, efficiency of operations, and profitability of paper mills,” says Farmer. “I have found their products and service to be the best in class and I am excited to be a part of Panther’s future!”

According to John Platt, President of Panther’s QCS Division, “Panther is poised to take the ‘next step’ in company growth and profitability. Phil Farmer, as a result of his years of experience in the paper industry and his leadership skills, is the perfect choice to lead Panther at this time.”

John Platt, President of Panther’s QCS (“ICIS”) Division, and Jim Roberts, President of Panther’s MES (“Mill Tools”) Division, will now report directly to Farmer.

Panther has installations of its control automation, production management or process systems in more than 35 mills across the U.S. Farmer views Panther today as a company poised to continue to grow. “After years of incremental growth, both the ICIS and Mill Tools Divisions now face quickly expanding opportunity. Our challenge is to meet this increased demand with a focused and disciplined approach to improving and sustaining customer satisfaction, product performance, capacity, and finally financial performance. As well as the immediate and exciting growth opportunities, Panther is also rolling out two new products: the Dashboard application which provides excellent real-time information in a Web-based environment to improve mill leadership response and decision making; and our Data Warehouse, which provides an enterprise solution for managing production and quality data at the mill level.

“This is a great company positioned well for the future by the excellent leadership of John Platt and Jim Roberts. I am personally grateful for the opportunity to work with this team and I look forward to many successful years with Panther and its customers.”
