Lightwave Logic Reports on Testing and Fabrication Progress of Initial All-Optical Waveguides by City University of New York

NEWARK, Del., June 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Lightwave Logic, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: LWLG.OB), a technology company focused on the development of a Next Generation Non Linear Optical Polymer Materials Platform for applications in high speed fiber-optic data communications and optical computing, provided a progress report on testing and fabrication progress of initial all-optical waveguides.

The testing and fabrication conducted by the City University of New York’s (CUNY) team at the Laboratory for Nano and Micro Photonics using one of Lightwave’s Third-order chromophore materials, Perkinamine(TM) NR have confirmed that the material’s non-linear optical coefficient compares favorably to best known materials but with unprecedented thermal stability for an organic material.

A chromophore is an advanced type of dye that imparts sensitivity to light of a resulting organic polymer.

The tests conducted employed a z-scan based two photon absorption measurement on a cross section of the material which furthered the understanding of the optical properties. This material had been previously tested by Lehigh University using a 4-wave mixing technique.
