FAA Investigating News Corp’s Use Of Drones
The Federal Administration Aviation (FAA) is investigation publications run by News Corp. for the use allaged of drones by its iPad application publication The Daily.
FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown said that her agency is investigating whether The Daily’s use of “unmanned aerial systems” violates FAA regulations.
The Daily broadcasted footage of Alabama after it was flattened by storms, and UAS Vision reported that the publication owns a MicroDrone MD4-1000.
Commercial operators typically need a certificate in order to fly the unmanned aircraft.
The Daily’s blog shows it used drones to capture aerial footage of floodwaters in North Dakota and Mississippi in May and June.
