WASHINGTON, Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USHCCF) is proud to announce the winners of its Green Builds Business program in Irving, TX. Green Builds Business is a national initiative, launched earlier this year by the USHCC Foundation and funded by a $500,000 grant from Walmart, designed to educate Hispanic business entrepreneurs on environmental sustainability and guide them on how to formulate and implement green business plans that hold the potential of creating jobs, growing profits and reducing emissions this year.

Over 20 businesses in Irving participated in the two-day workshop which began on July 27, 2011, which was officially named “USHCC Green Builds Business Day” by Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne. The proclamation was presented by City Councilman Roy Santoscoy. The USHCC Foundation also received a resolution from the State of Texas on July 28, 2011, presented by State Representative Linda Harper Brown (District 105), commending the USHCC for its leadership in creating the Green Builds Business program.

“To have the Green Builds Business program recognized in this way by the State of Texas is such a great honor for the USHCC Foundation and Walmart,” says Nina Vaca-Humrichouse, Chairman of the USHCC and CEO of Dallas-based Pinnacle Technical Resources. “We hope to see this program create an impact for businesses in this manner in every city we reach.”

The winners of the Green Builds Business program in Irving include the Irving Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for its business plan dedicated to the creation of a Bilingual recycling center and program for the City of Irving and aspiring business owner, Angie Franco, for her concept of a green, organic bakery in south Irving. The winners will receive a total of 18 hours of one-on-one green coaching from Bill Roth, founder of Earth 2017 and coach of the Green Builds Business program.

“It has become increasingly important for businesses in both the public and private sectors to incorporate green sustainability into their business models,” says Vaca-Humrichouse. “‘Going Green’ is not just for individuals to practice but extends to businesses as well – it is indeed a sign of the times. We are thrilled with the level enthusiasm and involvement we’ve seen from those who participate in Green Builds Business.”

The next Green Builds Business Program will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 25 & 26, 2011.
