Japan Oil Firms to Export Gasoline to Cover U.S. Hurricane Damage
September 14, 2005
Tokyo, Sept. 14 (Jiji Press)–Nippon Oil Corp. and three other Japanese oil companies said Wednesday they will export gasoline to the United States for delivery in early October to help to cover a supply shortage caused by Hurricane Katrina.
Under the joint gasoline supply program, Nippon Oil will ship 10,000 kiloliters and the other three firms–Idemitsu Kosan Co., Cosmo Oil Co. and Japan Energy Corp.–will export 5,000 kiloliters each.
The companies will load the gasoline at a Nippon Oil refinery in Sendai, northeastern Japan, in the coming days.
They will also help to ease the supply-demand balance in the global oil product market by putting curbs on their imports of crude oil and petroleum products.END
