Japan Oil Firms to Export Gasoline to Cover U.S. Hurricane Damage

Tokyo, Sept. 14 (Jiji Press)--Nippon Oil Corp. and three other Japanese oil companies said Wednesday they will export gasoline to the United States for delivery in early October to help to cover a supply shortage caused by Hurricane Katrina.
Under the joint gasoline supply program, Nippon Oil will ship 10,000 kiloliters and the other three firms--Idemitsu Kosan Co., Cosmo Oil Co. and Japan Energy Corp.--will export 5,000 kiloliters each.
The companies will load the gasoline at a Nippon Oil refinery in Sendai, northeastern Japan, in the coming days.
They will also help to ease the supply-demand balance in the global oil product market by putting curbs on their imports of crude oil and petroleum products.END
